If your name is Burwood, the chances are that your ancestors came from the manor of Burwood in Norfolk.
The land at Burwood was (like much of Ludham) a holding of the monks at St Benet's Abbey, but the problem has been in finding exactly where Burwood is as it has vanished from the modern maps.
We can now tell you that the manor of Burwood was in the neighbouring parish of Neatishead. It is located just south of Beeston Hall and north of Cangate
